The Dutch capital has museums with both classic and contemporary art of Amsterdam, as well as many small galleries you can visit. Inspired by the city’s artistic history Htel Serviced Apartments has invited Josine Goosens to share her paintings with the visitors of the hotel.
Josine Goosens is an artist from Amsterdam and she created several paintings and drawings. Her work contains surreal art images of existing buildings, floating in the sky. When faced with her art, the spectator sees a three-dimensional illusion which is a form of extreme realism. The chosen colours and sometimes fuzzy background make the paintings somewhat phantasmagoric. In her work the absence of life is absolute and it seems the buildings hang in total silence. It suggests the beautiful and yet alienating moment after a catastrophe, when both human and animal life have been exterminated completely.
Nowadays many hotels organize art exhibitions in their buildings. This way visitors can get acquainted with new artworks. Exposing art in hotels is an extra service to the clients who in many cases also have the opportunity to buy the exhibited paintings, as is the case with Josine Goosens’ work.
